1 Course Structure

Year I for Mechanical Engineering

Engineering Subjects Workshop Technology (Learning Objectives)

  • To impart knowledge and skill components in the field of basic workshop technology
  • To deals with different hand and machine tools required for manufacturing simple metal components and articles.

Engineering Mechanics (Learning Objectives)

  • To develop the capacity to predict the effects of force and motion while carrying out the creative design functions of engineering.

Basic Technical Drawing  (Learning Objectives)

  • To know about different types of lines & use of different types of pencils in an Engineering Drawing
  • To know how to represents letters & numbers in drawing sheet
  • To know about different types of projection
  • To know projection of points ,straight lines, solids etc.
  • To know development of different types of surfaces.
  • To know about isometric projection.
  • Basics of dimensioning ,Lettering& representation of lines
  • Different lines used for representation of different Engineering Sections.
  • To know different angle of projection

 

 

Year II for Mechanical Engineering

Engineering Subjects Internal Combustion Engines (Learning Objectives)

  • To give an overview of IC Engines, classification, application, operations and processes.

Production Technology (Learning Objectives)

  • To study the basic and conventional manufacturing processes and tools used

Engineering Drawing (Learning Objectives)

  • To teach students to communicate using graphic techniques. This involves learning to "read" or interpret the information contained in a 2D mechanical drawing. To accomplish this the student must learn the principals and standards of mechanical drawing and dimensioning.
  • Different lines used for representation of different Engineering Sections.

 Engineering Thermodynamics (Learning Objectives)

  • To apply the first and second laws of Thermodynamics to various gas processes and cycles. To get conversant with properties of steam, vapor processes.

 Strength of Materials  (Learning Objectives)

  • To facilitate the concept of bending and its theoretical analysis. To apply fundamental concepts of related to deformation, load carrying capacity, shear forces, bending moments and principal stresses and strain.
  • Theory of Machines- To learn how to analyze the motions of mechanisms, design mechanisms to have given motion and analyze forces in machines.

Year III for Mechanical Engineering Academic Subjects

Engineering Subjects  Internal Combustion Engines  (Learning Objectives)

  • To dismantle and assemble the automobile components
  • To understand different types of frames used in various Automobiles
  • To understand the petrol engine fuel system
  • To understand the diesel engine fuel system
  • To be able to dismantle and assemble

 Automotive Technology  (Learning Objectives)

  • To Maintain a facility and inventory of tools, equipment, and technology that duplicates a professional automotive repair business.

Air-conditioning and Refrigeration (Learning Objectives)

  •  To Learn the fundamental principles and different methods of refrigeration and air conditioning.
  • Study of various refrigeration cycles and evaluate performance refrigerant property tables.
  • Comparative study of different refrigerants with respect to properties, applications and environmental issues.
  • To understand the basic air conditioning processes on psychometric charts, calculate cooling load for its applications in comfort and industrial air conditioning.
  • To study of the various equipment, operating principles, operating and safety controls employed in refrigeration air conditioning systems

 Estimating & Shop Management  (Learning Objectives)

  • To train the students for working as materials managers by providing them knowledge about effective and efficient purchase, effective and efficient stores management, and   cost analysis of production

Control Technology (Learning Objectives)

  • To get the basic knowledge on practical control system and applications.
  • To get the knowledge on applications of machines & electronic devices with control systems.
  • To safe practices operating the CNC machines.
  • T0 learn basic CNC programming.
  • To will be able to identify parameters for material and use basic setup techniques for machining projects.
  • To complete a project on a CNC lathe and a CNC mill.

Design of Machine Elements (Learning Objectives)

  •  To teach students how to apply mechanical engineering design theory to identify and quantify machine elements in the design of commonly used mechanical systems.
2 Class Timing
  • Every Mon Day to Fri Day.
  • Class starts at 8:00 AM.
  • Class ends at 4:00 PM.
  • Lunch Break for 1 hr.
3 Assessment Methods
  • Examination at end of each semester
  • Practical assessment for each job title.
4 Grading System

For Each Subjects,

  • Grade (A) (81 to 100 Marks obtained in Semester exam)
  • Grade (B) (61 to 80 Marks obtained in Semester exam)
  • Grade (C) (41 to 60 Marks obtained in Semester exam)
  • Grade (D) (21 to 40 Marks obtained in Semester exam)
  • Grade (E) (0 to 20 Marks obtained in Semester exam)
